Easy to clean knives with a stainless steel blade are highly resistant and can be easily cleaned with a sponge, warm water and dishwashing liquid.
Strength and resistance from woodwork to steelwork, as well as new materials like top-of-the-range synthetic polymers, our knives are designed to last a Lifetime and will often be passed down from father to son

Opinel knives are great. I have carried one foclose to 50 years. Sometimes when they get wet, the handle wood swells, making opening and closing difficult. This model 's handle material doesn't swell. It keeps a sharp edge even after significant use.
Great steel, extremely sharp!
This is a great knife to carry with you as well as to let other people borrow. The slide lock for the blade is great. The knife is great for others to borrow as well because they make sure they turn the lock before using it, making a great safe loaner. The thin blade profile is awesome for peeling apples and cutting task. The blade is very easy to sharpen and gets razor sharp. The weight of the knife is almost nothing and you forget it's in your pocket. If you pair this with one of those pocket clips, you will love it and definitely carry it everyday. My coworkers like the knife so much, that they are beginning to order their own.
nice product
This is a great little knife, very sharp and great for EDC. Opinel knives are a great bargain. I would have given this 5 stars, but this was delivered to the wrong address and I had to track the package down.
Bought this for my wife. It’s a classic just like Case & Sons, but just made in France. Not everything made in the USA is worthy in my opinion. By that, I mean this knife isn’t over priced, so if she loses it or breaks it, it’s only $17, not $100. Secondly, it’s a great cutter with some awesome steel. You don’t need to be a saint to sharpen it like high end super steels! A few passes on a ceramic stone and it’s back to hair popping sharp. It’s also has a neat twist lock feature to lock it open and closed. Lastly, if you use it like a knife should be used, it will last. If you use it like a pry bar or an all around camp knife you risk breaking it. If you want a classic pocket knife that you can use daily for rope, fruit, and other chores, this is a great option. The color is just a bonus!
Bought a small keychain Opinel and loved it so much I decided to buy a larger version. Green being my favorite color, I opted for the green. Love the wooden handle. I never used to carry a knife around with me but now I have this knife I never leave the house without it!I use this knife to open my many Amazon packages, to open the bag of dog food, to open boxes at the office, open the mail, cut rope...everything! It has come handy for numerous tasks. The blade is very very sharp out of the package and has stayed sharp through my daily use. I bought a little sharpening stone from Opinel and use it to keep the blade in tip top shape. About to buy another as a gift.
It’s a well made classic design. Great for a pack or to give as a gift.
This is my first Opinel, and I really like parts of it. It's a great looking knife. It opens and closes smoothly. The locking ring works well. I like the size. There's one important thing missing from that list, though. The knife, as it arrived to me, was unusable. I happen to own a Bess scale sharpness tester, and I tested it right out of the box. It rated 1150. That's the highest (worst) score that I've ever seen. Upon further inspection, I found that the blade was badly rolled. I've never had a knife come to me from the factory more than 350 on the scale (lower is better), and this includes Chinese hardware store crap.I wasn't expecting a scalpel, but this cut packing tape almost as well as my car keys.Maybe this is normal for Opinel, but I found it to be shocking.I spend an hour this morning with a set of sharpening stones and a strop, and got the sharpness down to 150 (about the same as a utility razor knife). I'm pretty happy with that sharpness, but I shouldn't have to profile and sharpen a knife, right out of the box, just to use it as a knife.I'll see how this holds up with use, but I doubt that I'd buy another one, even though the price was very reasonable.
These knives have been around since 1890. Functional and durable, it's nice to have a little utility knife with a blade lock. A truly useful classic never goes out of style.
