This was a gift for my grandson. He is thrilled with your product and the quality is really good.
This is a perfect knife for a young chef learning safety with knives
I like the weight and size of this knife. I expect my 9yr old grandkid will get a lot of use from this and the finger guard while learning how to cook
I think that this educational knife set is great for beginners learning the safety and correct way to use a knife. What comes in this knife set is 1 chef knife, 1 crinkle cutter, and 1 finger guard. The knives are durable and strong and it's real, with an elegant stainless steel blade and a comfortable rosewood handle with a ring on it to help guide kids in the proper use of this knife. The finger guard helps protect kids' fingers from accidentally cutting fingers. The crinkle cutters were challenging because the potatoes were stuck between the two blades of the crinkle cutter this happens repeatedly other than that it's a nice educational knife set for kids. I recommend it.
No worries on harm and cuts pretty well!
My girlfriend has a young son and he loves coming here to eat as I prepare kind of fancy stuff. It helps that my kitchen looks like a Alton Brown stopped by as well I have a lot of neat cooking stuff. Anyhoo, he always loves to help but there really isn't much he can do but stir and similar things but I always appreciate his enthusiasm. The number one thing he always wants to do is chop stuff he sees me doing and of course thinks it's super cool. Well there are some problems with that. A. My knives are SHARP and a mistake would surely result in a missing digit or at least a fraction of one. B. My knives are not cheap and I don't really like letting anyone but me use them.. However! this set is very interesting, for dinner tonight I let him use these plastic serrated ones I picked up that are "safety" knives to cut up some carrots for dinner (did fine no issues) but that wasn't floating his boat he wanted to do more so I let him help me clean up the pork for dinner using the knife in this set. he was thrilled to be able to use a "real" knife and super thrilled that it was his size. I started the cuts and let him finish them with his knife under close supervision of course. It worked great, because its a safety knife kinda thing it wasn't necessarily effortless but that's to be expected. and although this isn't like super sharp it can still be dangerous so I highly recommend keeping a close eye on the little ones while in use and provide solid instructions and demonstrations prior to use. Otherwise with a watchful eye this can be a great training tool and I was really pleased with the construction and quality of all items in the set. I unfortunately don't know when I'll ever have a good reason for the crinkle cutter, and the fingerguard I am saving to when we move on to an actual knife. using this one I feel safe teaching him to use his knuckles without worry of injury. I Very highly recommend this set, especially if your kid(s) really interesting in cooking.
This knife set is great for my nine year old son who likes to help cook. He's ready to graduate on to harder and heavier cooking tasks and this knife has an actual edge on it so he can practice real cutting techniques and the panda finger guard gives me peace of mind while he's learning. Both my nine year old and seven year old like the crinkle cut blade. It's just the right size for them to use and it does cut. Best of all, the tools are inspiring for my nine year old and his eyes lit up when he got to use them in the kitchen for the first time.
Be careful dont confuse the difference between kids knives and pretend knives. These bad boys cut! So much that i had my guard down and certainly sliced my own finger from them. They are perfect for teaching young ones proper holding form while maintaining the confidence of actually cutting through food.
It’s advertised as kid friendly but it is not! This blade cuts and it is sharp! I would not buy this for any child under 10. You might as well hand them a real knife at this point.
This brand produces several knives, so I ordered a serrated one and a straight-edge one (this one) for review, so the reviews may seem similar as this is the only difference. These blades are great for letting little kids participate with adults in food preparation and "cooking" so I would highly recommend these for small children who want to do this. Having kids participate in the meals they eat is an amazing way to encourage them to learn to love cooking and build up hand eye coordination skills. With this said, I would not recommend these for older kids who are actually learning how to cook, as these knives do not allow you to learn proper knife grip and knife handling skills. These knives have a hole in them for your finger to slide through and help with a solid finger grip, similar to a Karambit combat knife. While this is good in avoiding slippage and dropped knives, this also does not allow the user to find the knife balance and choke up on the blade properly for proper grip. If this does not bother you though, or if it's for little kids, this is a great knife. I would recommend this straight edge one over the serrated one if you had to choose, but having both are good. The blade is sharp but not super sharp. It's sharp enough to cut with, but not sharp enough to cut you if you just touch the edge wrong (which is how I tend to have my knives). These knives can be easily sharpened though, as the metal is fairly soft and a quick session on a 1000 grit stone will get these reasonably sharp. The tip is also dulled to prevent stabs. It also comes with this weird panda finger guard that is cute but awkward to use, I'd rather say teach the child how to claw finger correctly.
