Beautiful packaging. It would certainly make a great gift. The knife fits perfectly into the case and on my belt loop. It's plenty sharp out of the box, but it might get a little bit of stropping and sharpening because I'm a knife perfectionist. The wood is beautifully turned and since it is wood each one is unique. It's very smooth in the hand and will be a great addition to my Opinel collection. Just remember that "slim" for Opinels means the handle isn't as thick as the standard #10 and the blade is much more like a filet. You can also see some great examples of it on YouTube, along with neat little customizations you can do at home.

The No. 10 slim Opinel makes a very nice steak knife. Either as a personal knife to carry to a steakhouse, or buy a set for your table at home. The wood on my knife is very nice. The blade has a higher polish than my standard Opinel, looking almost like chrome. I wonder if it's the same steel? It gets nice and sharp, anyway. The polishing of the blade on mine appears to have blurred the maker's marks a little.

It fits nice in my hand. The locking is new to me but a genius idea.The blade is wicked sharp but seems a little thin.
