  I love this Petite Messer, perfect fit for my hand. I use it every day. I must tell you to comparison shop on this one. After Christmas I placed my order with Amazon. The knife was selling for $30.24 with Prime free shipping. When the shipment was on it’s way, I happened to get an email from Messermeister advertising an after holiday sale. The Petite Messer, originally priced at $19.95 was on sale for $9.95! Ordering it from Messermeister meant I would have to pay for shipping which would have added to the cost. I accepted the order from Amazon, love the knife, however, I will do my homework before I order anything else from Amazon.

  No need for prestige knives, these work just as well and are scullery safe. I like the Santoku shape over the Chef's shape as I am more a slicer than a rocking chopper. To each their own preference. Smaller size we like over a full chef's knife for utility everything knife.

  However, it did not come with a plastic blade cover like many said it did.

  The plastic around the handle isn't smooth, the blade butting against the fingers was sharp. Cutting up hard veggies like carrots are a chore with this knife because it's so uncomfortable. Maybe it's to be expected from a $20 knife, but it feels like it should cost half that. You may get a $10 knife just as good from your local grocery store.

  Bought this for the restaurant to use prepping small items. Good edge retention, easy to sharpen and it’s NSF. This would be good for a bar too, slicing fruit or garnish items. Handy for home cooks, fast & light.

  Nice little knife, purchased because of messermeister name, realizing it was an affordable knife, not top of the line. It was not sharp as victorinox or mercer knives of similar quality right out of the box. Once resharpened it performed as expected.
