  I received the correct olive wood handled No.8, but this sheath is the same sheath included in the cheaper version. I picked this more expensive set for both the olive wood handle and the different style of sheath pictured. I only got half of what I purchased.

  The product arrived in a nice gift box, as advertised. It's a beautiful knife, with a smooth, natural wood handle and a sharp blade. The locking ring turns smoothly and is not overly tight or loose. I was surprised by the quality of the sheath, which was much softer/more supple than I expected at this price. I'm completely satisfied.

  Can’t tell you how glad I am I bought this, handle feels great in the hand, blade came perfectly sharp, used it for the first time at a picnic to cut a tomato and it went through perfectly. Light weight easy to toss in a bag, looks beautiful and the unique turning blade lock is really intuitive and easy to use.

  This is a very simple, yet beautiful knife that so far has not disappointed me.I wasn't a big fan of the box it came in, but I wanted a knife and not a box, so I don't take a star off for that.The Opinel mechanics are distinctly different from what you will find on most modern knifes, and either you like them or you don't (you turn the ring one way to allow the blade to fold out and then back the other way to secure it in place when it's open) - I love them for their simplicity and functionality. True, it's not a knife that you can open quickly, but again, that's not what I was looking for.If you have never had an Opinel knife before you might want to get one of their cheaper models first to see if you like the mechanics before spending twice as much or more just for a nicer handle and a box ;-)

  Beautiful gift box and i love the olive wood..these knives are THEE ski patroller knife, almost every pro patroller I know has one..super sharp, I mostly use mine for food to be honest but also cuts rope occasionally..and if you go to france every ski patroller has one and they make notches in the wood so they can close the knife and cut fuse evenly for avalanche control explosives and also cut some nice meats and cheeses

  It’s a great knife for every day use. I cut a lot of fresh fruits with it and it’s extremely sharp .

  This knife is bo$$. Like perfectly suited for everyday use. You have to get to know the twist lock feature a little and maybe add a drop of mineral oil depending on how often you use it but this is a time honored light weight classic knife with excellent craftsmanship and if a raccoon tries to attack you on your porch, this blade has enough fortitude to slay the beast. Also comes with +20 heal.
