I like this knife though it's only downside is it's not a quick to open
I purchased this knife for my husbands Christmas stocking and he loves it! Sharp blade, ergonomic handle and thin enough to slip into his front pocket. Highly recommend.
Although I haven't used the knife yet, I am pleased with quality of it. It appears to be what I was looking for in a picnic knife.
Well made knife, very lite.
What a real gem of a product. So simple, so classic. Looking forward to my first picnic with this bad boy. Arrived very sharp, but planning to take it to a whetstone soon. I did a little customization (shaped, stained darker) to the handle because it was HUGE. That would be the only drawback, but other than that, love this product.Ps. Love the carbon steel too. Already starting to develop a nice patina to it like it is supposed to.
This was a gift for a senior. The knife is a good size, fits the hand well, has a mediocre edge when received. The biggest concern is hinge. It is loose and allows the blade to feel sloppy.
This knife is too big for my purposes but that is my error. As regards the product, it is awesome! Very, very sharp so be careful. There is a little metal jacket that twists along the neck of the knife and this "locks" the blade in place. Alternatively, if you twist the jacket afte you fold the knife to its closed position then the knife is more secure and safe. I love this knife as a "take along" for a picnic or outdoor party event or whatever. Don't buy it to gut fish or deer! Lol.
Good knife
Hands down my favored Opinel model. I use this for every day odd jobs as well as food prep and "bushcraft". Other bushcrafters might consider this a sin, but I am okay with this being my main knife verses a fixed blade (I don't like belt knives). I have the #12 as well and while that is a better bushcraft knife and is riding in my bag, but I find that this #10 is big enough to get most jobs done and it already part of my EDC so the #12 often gets neglected. For those of you that say what about batonning, I would say this can hold up to it in a pinch. Plus, for the cost of this knife and the weight, carry a hawk and/or a folding saw. Besides, when your forest knife gets worked into your EDC, you really, take your prep mindset to the next level. Here is a good review on YouTube:[...]
Opinel knives like more knives the value cannot be matched the great product it holds an H I'm using them constantly all over the house in the woods bushcrafting they have done every job and every test I put in front of it obviously I have not baton with it because that is not a night to be patani but it holds an edge I haven't had a need to sharpen them yet highly recommended
