Minimal Packaging: Opinel Knives are traditionally sold without any retail packaging to reduce waste and promote sustainability. Knives have been minimally packaged in clear plastic zip bags, fitted to the size of the knife.
This knife features the Virobloc safety rings. Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives sizes No6 through No12. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding.
In addition to locking the blade open (safety while in Use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety on the Go).
Easy to clean knives with a stainless steel blade are highly resistant and can be easily cleaned with a sponge, warm water and dishwashing liquid.
Strength and resistance from woodwork to steelwork, as well as new materials like top-of-the-range synthetic polymers, our knives are designed to last a Lifetime and will often be passed down from father to son

Opinel #7 "trekking series" is a well-designed, well-crafted pocket-sized knife that's ideal for casual outdoor adventures. At 4 inches closed length it fits easily in a pocket or a fishing vest or tackle box. The 3 inch blade is made of high quality stainless steel and is sharp enough to shave with. It will hold it's edge for years if you take care of it. Measure your palm; if it's 4" or less the #7 size is best. For wider hands go for #8 or #9. There's roughly 1/2" difference in handle length with each increased # size.
I love this knife! It's perfect size for pocket carry, and so light you will forget it's there. The construction is second to none.A beautifully made knife that I believe will last a lifetime.
I had the smaller one since 1984. These really are a great pocket knife. No they are not a tactical knife or a fighting knife, but they are one that you will use often. One feature I love is how lite it is. I leave o e of these in my day pack and my backpack. So lite, but still full size, and great to use. A $400 knife is great, but heavy and I don't want to leave 3 or 4 of them in different places on the chance I may need it.
After “misplacing” my original Opinal I need to order another one. Can’t go wrong. Great quality
I use it to breast out ring necks and clean trout.
Very sharp knife, good price!
I have one already, I like it for it's unusual style and historical appearance, as well as its usefulness. This one was for my twin brother. We are both into handcrafts, older style items, but he is more into weaving and looms, as well as hand wood working. He liked it.
Great knife for food preparation when camping, razor sharp.
I’ve owned several Opinel folding knives over the years. I like the simple robust construction and the quality and shape of the blade. I knew exactly what I was going to get when I ordered it, except for one thing. I didn’t know if Opinel had improved the one thing I don’t like about this design and that is the lack of a guard where the handle meets the open blade. I didn’t expect there to be a guard because it is my impression that Opinel prides itself on preserving a classic design in spite of what I consider to be flaw in that design. I grind down the heel of the blade to lessen the risk of accidentally cutting one’s forefinger should it slide forward into the blade. As I said I didn’t expect to see a guard and I’m content with the knife, but I would urge Opinel to figure out a way to fix this flaw.I also currently own a small #3 (I believe) Opinel and it does not have the locking feature which is another flaw that needs to be corrected.
Loved the knife. But it didn't come sharp enough for me
